The Process

Get to Know Each Other

Like any good relationship, we start by getting to know each other. I have to really understand you, your company, and your expectations for the project. I provide you with a client questionnaire which we review together. Together we will

  • explore your brand, your history, and your style;
  • define the primary purpose of the site;
  • identify the business objectives you are trying to accomplish with the site;
  • take a look at your competitors and their strengths and weaknesses;
  • discuss our working styles so we understand each other; and
  • explore your design style including such things as layout, color palette, style, and tone.

Get to Know your Audience

You might think you are my focus, but it’s really your audience. The web site must deliver what they need for it to be successful, so we’ll get to know them before we start designing.

You’ll tell us what you know about your audience: describe who they are, why they use the site, what feedback you’ve received from them. We’ll determine just what action(s) you want your audience to take when they visit the site.

Determine your Needs

At this point we have a pretty good idea who you are and what your audience needs and wants, so it’s time to determine just what the web site will include.

Collect your Content

Now that we know what the web site will include, we’ll start collecting the content for the site. This includes not only text documents, but graphical elements such as logo, photographs, and illustrations.

Develop the Site’s Architecture

This is where we start to lay out what each page will contain, how they will relate to each other, and how your user will get from one page to the other—the navigational structure.

Design the Look of the Site

Now that we understand the structure, we design the look and feel of the site. We’ll provide you with an initial interface design for your review and feedback. Based on your input, we’ll make any necessary design alterations until you are completely satisfied with the design.

Code the Web Site

Once we have an approved design, we begin creating the style sheets and coding the pages. Each individual Web page will be created, section headers will be added and a full, working navigation system will be created.

Add your Content

Now we start to make the site look like it belongs to you—we add your content. As we proceed through this step, the Web pages will be online and available for your review.

Test the Site

At this point the site looks like it should and contains all your information. We’ll put it through its paces to ensure compliance with Web standards and the most popular browsers. In addition, we’ll ensure any styles created for specific devices, such as printers or mobile devices, work as intended.

Launch the Site

Once you are happy with the test results, we "go live" and launch the web site onto the World Wide Web.

Complete the Project

Once the site is online, we obtain your final approval and the project is deemed complete.

Train you or Maintain your Site

If you decide you want to maintain the site yourself, we’ll train you. Or we can maintain the site for you. We’ll develop a customized plan that suits your needs and budget and ensures that your new site remains current and accurate.
