H3 Web Boutique
The UMHA is a minor hockey organization for boys and girls ages 4 to 21. Their program runs from late September to the end of March. Centered in Unionville, Ontario, their main arenas are Angus Glen Community Centre and Crosby Memorial Community Centre.
H3 Web Boutique redesigned UMHA’s site to breathe new life into their Web presence by creating a fresh appearance and enhancing the user experience. We took it from a bloated, table-based layout to a progressive, standards-compliant, accessible, tableless design.
Working collaboratively with UMHA’s Website Committee, we identified two key user groups: parents and volunteers. The site has to work for both groups. Parents need to easily locate information on registration, game schedules, and standings while volunteers need access to specific, administrative and logistical information. We designed a navigation system to quickly guide both user groups from the homepage to the answer to their question with minimal intermediary steps.
The site is easy to update and maintain and takes full advantage of semantic HTML for markup and CSS to control the layout and design. Other improvements include faster download time, greater accessibility to all browsers and user groups, and the flexibility to update/change formatting on the fly.
